Westfield is a community with 19th century charm of a flourishing small town combined with 21st century modern technologies and conveniences. Westfield is a safe, secure community, which is ideal for children with many parks, playgrounds, and other public green spaces.
The Westfield area has long been an attractive location for entrepreneurs and manufacturers. Located along the western shores of Lake Erie in Chautauqua County and The Seaway Trail, Westfield has direct access to Interstate 90, two major state highways and two railroads. Offering exceptional access for today’s businesses, and forward thinking regarding technology and planned development, Westfield is the ideal location for business of all sizes: from the home based business to the large corporation. The people who call Westfield home are proud of the many churches, art galleries, the vibrant downtown with services from hair care, auto care, jewelry, insurance, cakes, pies, jams and jellies, engravers, attorneys, soups, massage, gift shops, antiques, pharmacy, hardware and more. The Patterson Library building is home to children’s programs, computers, collections and the Octagon Art Gallery. As you approach the village the spires of the First Presbyterian Church beckon, the church serves as the home of Westfield’s Lake Shore Center for the Arts. The Methodist Church on Main holds the Westfield Community Kitchen. With a state of the art emergency room Westfield Memorial Hospital is a source of pride. The local Y.W.C.A. is home to many activities for young and old alike and there are rooms to rent for overnight guest. There is a strong sense of community in Westfield with the festivals that have become legendary. There is an award winning Farmers and Artisan Craft Market in Moore Park where you can get Amish donuts and baked goods, fresh vegetables, bath products, jewelry and wine, listen to live music and enjoy a cup of coffee. First Fridays in June, July, August and September are like a street party where friends and neighbors come together. Christmas in the Village is a step back in time with a Dickens theme. The OX Roast held the second Sunday in July is a favorite event among residents and alumni from days gone by. Civil War Days and an Arts and Craft Market in Moore Park are held every June. History is a large part of the community, home to the Chautauqua County Historical Society, the McClurg Mansion Museum presides over Moore Park in the Village square with the Lincoln—Bedell Statue on the opposite corner.
